International Baccalaureate Organisation
The International Baccalaureate is a non-profit educational foundation. Founded in 1968, it currently works with 3,630 schools in 146 countries to develop and offer challenging programmes to over 1,115,000 students aged 3 to 19 years. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
Chazey Partners was engaged to determine the operating model and roadmap for a
Shared Services Organization (SSO) solution in the IBO that encompassed Accounts Payable,
Accounts Receivable, Consolidations and General Ledger. The remit included recommendations on using an optimal mix of Insourcing and Outsourcing. In addition, we provided support and guidance to:
- Understand the underlying cost of “running departments”, determine activities and roles that will transfer to the SSO and/or BPO, and ultimately provide a business case
- Establish a project governance framework for the program (Steering Group,Project Advisory Board, Project Management Office, and their specific roles &responsibilities, etc)
- Develop a scope of work suitable for consideration by outsourcing vendors and provide an approach to potential BPO partners (including search, RFT process, validation, selection, contract negotiation, etc)
Today the IBO uses a ‘hybrid’ insourcing and outsourcing solution which provides a more efficient and effective operational finance support.
